A multi-signature wallet requires multiple keys to spend Bitcoin - for example, any 2 out of 3 keys in a 2-of-3 setup. A decaying multi-signature wallet adds time-based rules, where the required key combination changes after a specified period. This enhances security and enables features like inheritance planning.
A time-lock enables the restriction of when a specific key can authorize Bitcoin transactions. For instance, we can configure private key B to only authorize transactions if your coins have remained dormant for over a year. This feature is particularly useful when combined with multi-signature wallets.
Our inheritance solutions use multi-signature wallets combined with time-locked keys. For example, we can set up a 1-of-2 multisig where you control one key and your heir controls a time-locked key that becomes active after a predetermined period. Alternatively, we can create a 2-of-3 decaying multisig that transitions to a 1-of-3 setup after a set time, allowing your heir to access funds if you're unable to. We customize the solution based on your specific needs and preferences.

No, you maintain full control over your Bitcoin through your self-custodial wallet, ensuring you can access your funds whenever needed. Satskeeper uses industry standard devices and only open-source software to setup your wallet. You can always access and restore your wallet without assistance from Satskeeper.
Protecting your data is of utmost importance to us. We therefore try to minimise the data we have access to as much as possible. There are two interfaces where personal information is required: the Satskeeper platform itself and the inheritance plan configurator.

Data entered on the platform: Apart from specific fields, which are visually highlighted, this data is removed from the Satskeeper database after 30 days and is only stored in encrypted offline copies in multiple locations to ensure redundancy. This copy will only be accessed when required for a proof-of-life check.
